In 1903, Fritz Thomas founded 'Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens' in the German town of Marketredwitz. Five years later, Thomas was taken over by Rosenthal. In 1960, production was transferred to a new site, 'Thomas am Kulm', in Speichersdorf, Upper Franconia. The Italian architect, Marcello Morandini, decorated the building's flat facade with geometric patterns.
